I recall a time visiting with my Great-Grandmother during the holiday season. She had all her beautiful decorations put up on display sparkling and glittering through the house with every turning doorway.  I mean, this house was a time capsule for Christmas and all things Hallmark.  The only thing missing was Bing Crosby himself.  Yes, I know who he is and those reading this who don’t, well…Google it.  My eyes drifted between all the lights, pictures, cards and holiday candies strategically placed that surrounded her favorite sitting chair and always within reach of her arm…a black and white photo of her “daddy”; my Great-Great grandpa sitting on some porch steps.

God tells us that there is power in His name and that prayer is our open relationship with Him daily. Years earlier, my Great-Grandma told me that this picture was the day that her “daddy” accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior outside along the church in the grass with the pastor. Someone had taken the photo from that day and had given it to my Great-Grandma as a gift before her “daddy” had died.

There is no doubt that the prayers answered were God’s continual love and grace that He extended into her “daddy” as she pressed into our Heavenly Father’s promises.  She had spent her days with her love in the Spirit knowing that her father had not accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and that the knowledge of God’s will was to simply welcome her “daddy” into the kingdom family for all eternity.

Colossians1:9  For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,

Her chair sits empty now, but the picture is still with us and fully speaks to those who know the story and a life of a faithful child of God who never stopped praying for her “daddy.’  Take the time today to pray for those who are kingdom building, but also for the ones who you know are alone, standing outside of God’s word.
